IMPORTANT NOTICE ABOUT HOURS
The Consulate urgently requests all clients DO NOT ARRIVE AT THE OFFICE BUILDING BEFORE 8:30 AM so as to avoid having to wait at the lobby for the Consulate to open. Building management has been receiving complaints from their security and other tenants about Consulate clients arriving at the building as early as 6:00 AM and loitering – at times, sleeping – at the lobby until the Consulate opens at 9:00.  In response to this issue, building security will be sending away those who arrive too early and advise them to return when the Consulate opens. The Consulate understands that those who arrive too early are likely walk-in passport applicants and come from far away.  We therefore recommend that these clients time their arrival so that they don’t arrive too early and risk being sent away by building security.  WE ALSO RECOMMEND THAT WALK-IN PASSPORT APPLICANTS VISIT THE CONSULATE AFTER 1:00 PM AND AVOID VISITING ON MONDAYS AND FRIDAYS. We thank you for your cooperation in this matter.
DFA-MANILA ADVISORY ON 07 December 2016 — The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) requests the public’s kind understanding on the ongoing delays in the release of passports.  These delays are due to technical issues on the part of the company printing the passports. Those with immediate travel plans are advised to wait until their passports are released before confirming their flights. Please be assured that the Department is exerting all efforts to ensure the resumption of normal services as soon as possible. The Consulate advises all passport applicants that they should consider that the release of their new passports may be delayed due to the ongoing technical issues at the passport processing center in the Philippines. Instead of six to eight weeks, it is possible that new passports will only be available for release around 12 weeks after application. Applicants may check whether their passports are ready for release by visiting the Consulate’s website – www.calgarypcg.org – and click on the ‘News’ section.  The Consulate uploads a new list after every passport delivery from Manila, around every two weeks. Thank you for your understanding.
Important Advisory on Passport Expiration and Renewals The Philippine Consulate General in Calgary wishes to remind all Filipinos to check the expiry dates and strongly encourages them to apply for renewal of their passports when the remaining validity is eight (8) months or less, taking into consideration the processing time of six (6) to ten (10) weeks from the time a passport renewal application is received at the Consulate to the release of the new passport. It should be noted that the Consulate General does not extend the validity of passports as this has been stopped by the Department of Foreign Affairs given that many immigration authorities worldwide do not recognize the extension stamp and only follow the original validity printed on the passport, resulting in the offloading of Filipinos from international flights and great inconvenience and additional expense for them. The Consulate General recommends that Filipinos with soon-to-be expired passports who are travelling to the Philippines renew their passports at the Consulate prior to their departure but request to claim their new passports at the DFA Consular Office-Aseana, Macapagal Avenue, Parañaque City.
